Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of approximately 30,000 Inari shrines across Japan. Its history dates back to 711 AD, making it one of the oldest and most revered sites. Known for its blessings of prosperity in business and safety in the home, the shrine attracts a constant stream of worshippers and tourists from both Japan and abroad throughout the year.
The most iconic sight of Fushimi Inari Taisha is the world-famous Senbon Torii (Thousands of Torii Gates). The scene of countless vermilion gates lined up in perfect rows is nothing short of breathtaking. This tradition of offering torii gates, which started in the Edo period as a way to fulfill wishes, has expanded to an awe-inspiring sight with around 10,000 torii now in place. The atmosphere here feels almost otherworldly, like something out of Demon Slayer or Rurouni Kenshin, where the mystical and ancient intertwine.
Fushimi Inari Taisha is approximately 35 minutes from Kyoto Pleasant Hotel by combining the Karasuma Subway Line and JR Nara Line, with JR Inari Station just a short walk from the shrine.
